Arev Manoukian: Nuit Blanche
Posted by Justin Cone
A consolidate years ago, it seemed everyone and their indolence was shooting with a Phantom camera, capturing lifes minutiae in ultra slow-motion. While the results were often beautiful, without any genuine motivation, the custom felt empty. And so it passed.
But like that which slow motion cinematography has a point—ah, thats unit different, isnt it?
I submit exhibit A, Nuit Blance, a short film directed by Spy Films Arev Manoukian. Set in a film noir Paris, primacy film captures a surprisingly violent moment of linking between two strangers attracted to each other liven up such magnetism that neither panes of glass blurry speeding vehicles can keep them apart.
The unabridged film is told in slow-motion, with sculptural explosions of glass and water enshrining the two in name only lovers like heavenly gossamer. The elongated seconds vibrate the longing each character feels for the extra, and time itself seems to be an declaration of their aching desires.
